Local distribution: Atlantic lowlands, 0-700 m; Poco Sol field station. Similar species: Aeria eurimedea, Oleria zelica Species range: Nicaragua to South America. Abundance: Rare. Larval host plants: Solanum arboreum, Solanum siparunoides Early stages: eggs are laid singly; larvae are solitary. Comments: Flies low to the ground with shallow wingbeats. Males form small leks in sunny places in understory. Females oviposit on seedlings in light gaps. |
