Description. Weak treelet, mature at 2-5 m; twigs with swollen nodes, often with two dorsal ridges; leaves alternate, usually paired, to 10 x 22 cm, minor leaf to 4 cm, almost round, blade glabrous, elliptic, acuminate, base asymmetric, inflorescence 1-15 mm, arising between leaf pairs, bearing 3-15 buds and flowers at once; flowers 4-parted, glabrous, with pedicel 15 mm, calyx 4-5 mm, without lobes, corolla 12-16 mm, free to calyx margin, pale green, waxy, shiny, anthers 3 mm cream; fruit Similar species. Cuatresia riparia is more common, has narrower leaves, and larger, sessile, yellow flowers. Solanum ramonense is mature at less than 1 m and has small white flowers. Local distribution.
