Corduliidae- Emerald dragonflies, Green-eyed skimmers

Neocordulia, with three species, is the only genus of corduliids in Costa Rica. Of these, only Neocordulia batesi has been recorded from Monteverde at 800 m elevation in the Río Peñas Blancas Valley on the Atlantic slope. The members of this genus are characterized by the metallic green reflectance on the thorax. They breed in fast-flowing streams in forested areas.
