Local distribution: Recorded in our region from a single forest fragment (1400 m) on the Atlantic slope NW of Monteverde. Similar species: Dircenna relata, Dircenna olyras, Napeogenes cranto, Ithomia xenos Species range: Costa Rica and Panama Abundance: Rare, possibly extirpated from Monteverde region.
Larval host plants: Solanum circinatum (= Cyphomandra hartwegii) Early stages: Solitary Comments: Not seen in the Monteverde region since 1979. The hindwing discal area is distinctly more transparent in the male than in the female. |
