Identification:
No white spots on ventral hindwing, base of forewing orange-brown; hindwing disal bar may be strong, reduced to a spot or absent; black border of hindwing poorly developed.

Wingspan: 66-67mm

Forewing length: 31-34mm

Local distribution: Pacific slope at 1000-1400 m; Atlantic slope at about 400-700 m.

Similar species: Mechanitis polymnia, Tithorea harmonia, Napeogenes tolosa

Species range: Mexico to South America

Abundance: Uncommon

Larval host plants: Solanum accrescens

Early stages: Solitary

Comments: Typical of forest edge and secondary areas. The hostplant grows in old pastures, coffee patches and forest edge.
