The Electronic Field Guide to Jenn's Yard (Framingham, MA)

About the Project:

This project is an attempt to catalog all the flora and fauna found around my house, which is located about half an acre of property in Framingham, Massachusetts, USA. As of June 2008, I have catalogued more than 520 species, including 95 different plants (some of which were planted) and 365 different insects (none of which were planted :-)). This is an ongoing project, as I am working from a catalog of over 40,000 photos I have taken over the past several years. Several of my subjects still need proper identification and the information here is subject to change. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email me at my gmail account, username: jformanorth.

About Me:

My name is Jennifer Forman Orth, and I am began this project while I was working as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where I studied invasive species and assisted in the development of software tools that facilitate the study of biodiversity (we like to call it "ecoinformatics").
